Washington DC Landmarks and Attractions


The National Gallery of Art houses a permanent collection of painting, sculpture, decorative and graphic arts from the 13th to the 20th century which are on display in over 100 seperate galleries. A number of changing exhibitions are also continually hosted in the west building. Designed by architect John Russel Pope, the original West building of the National gallery of Art has the same dome design feature that may be seen in the Jefferson Memorial, the National Archives and many other landmarks in Washington DC.
